About Your Stay

  • As individuals begin their rehabilitation, they often have many questions or concerns. Our team of specialists is here to help address these issues - and make sure that your stay with us as productive and successful as possible. To ensure your comfort and safety, we offer this general information.

    Personal Needs

    Patient safety: Our top priority is the care and safety of our patients. We ask that everyone - patients, family members and visitors - help us maintain a safe environment by following the posted guidelines. This includes, for example, asking a staff member for assistance when a patient needs to get in or out of bed, the bathroom or a wheelchair, and washing your hands before and after visiting with a patient.

    Visitors: The support of family and friends is an important part of the rehabilitation process and we encourage visitation. Please schedule visits after 5 p.m. so that patients can concentrate on their therapy.

    Note that guests are not allowed in treatment areas unless they’ve been asked specifically to participate in a therapy session. To respect all of our patients’ needs and for everyone’s well-being, please have no more than two visitors in your room at one time. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

    Laundry: Please set up a laundry schedule with family members or friends to keep your clothing and personal items fresh and clean.

    Communication

    Televisions: In-room television service is provided for every patient.

    Phone service: We permit the use of cell phones and every patient room has an individual direct line number. Please ask that family and friends call after 5 p.m., unless it is an emergency.

    Personal electronics: You may use laptops, personal music/video players and other electronics in your room. Such items are not permitted in the therapy gyms. Internet service is available via WiFi.

    In addition you may use hair dryers, electric shavers, etc. for your personal needs. These items must be inspected and tagged by our maintenance staff.

    Please note that we are not responsible for lost or stolen items.

    Mail: Mail is delivered to patients daily, except Sundays and holidays. Outgoing mail can be dropped at the nurses’ station or main reception desk.

    California Rehabilitation Institute Policies

    Security: Our security staff is on hand to ensure the safety of our hospital. We strongly encourage you to leave any valuables and unnecessary personal items at home. For any valuables you do have in your possession during your stay, please contact the Admissions Office or your nurse to arrange for safekeeping. California Rehabilitation Institute will not safeguard any patient cash. 

    Smoking: California Rehabilitation Institute is a tobacco-free hospital zone. This means that smoking is not permitted anywhere within the hospital or on hospital grounds. The use of candles or devices with open flames is prohibited.

    Alcohol and drugs: The possession or use of alcohol and illegal drugs is not permitted under any circumstances and will subject patients to discharge. Testing is mandatory in cases of suspected substance abuse. If an individual seeks counseling for drug or alcohol dependency, we can provide assistance during their stay.

    General Information

    Medical Records: Copies of your medical records can be obtained by submitting a written request to our Medical Records Department. In accordance with state law, a nominal fee per page will be charged.
