Stroke Rehabilitation

  • Recovering from a stroke can be one of the greatest challenges a person will ever face. Some may face neurological deficit due to cerebrovascular disease including but not limited to: thrombosis, aneurysm, hemorrhage or embolism. Research shows that an early and specialized stroke rehabilitation plan of care can optimize an individual’s physical and cognitive recovery, ultimately enhancing quality of life. Studies also indicate that where a stroke survivor goes for treatment can make all the difference in his or her recovery.

California Rehabilitation Institute delivers a comprehensive program of medical, nursing, and therapy care to address the needs of each stroke patient successfully. We admit patients with a neurological deficit due to cerebrovascular disease, those who have previously received rehabilitation services with the qualifying diagnosis of stroke but develop new impairments, and those with a prior stroke diagnosis who have never received evaluation and/or treatment in a medical rehabilitation center.

This goal-directed approach enables patients to:

    • Restore physical function and enhance the skills needed to perform daily activities
    • Build strength, improve balance and regain mobility
    • Improve speech and swallowing
    • Develop new cognitive and behavioral strategies to compensate for any deficits
